Show & Tell Friday

It's been awhile since I've done Show & Tell Friday, so I thought I'd share something today.

I thought I'd share old treasures that are new to me. These are a few of the things I found on my trip last week to Ennis, Montana. They had some wonderful antique stores and I found this beautiful crocheted pineapple butterfly there. It's big too--it measures 21 inches by 16 inches. I'm not sure just what it was originally used for--I'm wondering due to it's size if maybe it graced the back of a chair or sofa at one time. Someone certainly put a lot of hours into it and I found it heaped in a box of other doilies and linens and decided I needed to rescue it and make it a treasure. I think I may frame it, but I haven't decided for sure. That's the only thing I could think of so maybe someone will have a better suggestion.

A few other small newly acquired treasures are the red and white potholder, old silver mirror, with a rather thick beveled mirror still in it with only a bit of the silvering deteriorated and a pincushion made from an old piece of a quilt. I love rescuing old things and giving them a new home and I love to think of who made the piece or who might have owned it and how they might have come to acquire it and what kind of person they were and how did their treasure end up for sale. All part of the mystique and fun of adopting someone else's treasures.
