The Carousel Horse

Do you remember the carousel horses that were popular in the 90's--the one's that were made from the childrens old hobby horses. Well I brought my mom's home with me from Missouri.....

I always loved this horse. My brother had it made for her. He made the base and pole and had found an old hobby horse and then a cousin of his wife did all the painting and decorating......and yes I have pink drapes and carpet!

It is crackle painted all over and the roses, ribbons, braided trims and fabric for the saddle are all painted over as well.

Here's closer look at some of the details. It needs just a bit of minor touch up here and there, but not too bad for a horse that is about 12-15 years old and has moved about 4 times--this last time being in the back of the van about 1500 miles.

I'd still like to try and make one of these myself. I wonder if anyone would want one? Oh well something that's still on my "to do" list after all these years. LOL!

I love the horse. I've got an old one in my attic and you've certainly made me think about bringing him down again and giving him some TLC. xx
